Bilston Outdoor Market is set to undergo a £5.2m redevelopment funded by the Government, with work scheduled to begin on October 24, 2024. The project, expected to last around 12 months, will temporarily relocate outdoor traders to Bert Turner Boulevard, High Street, and Church Street. The indoor market will continue operating during this time.

The redevelopment is part of the Bilston Health & Regeneration Programme (HaRP), aiming to improve market visibility and pedestrian access from the nearby Bus/Metro station. The plan includes the demolition of some existing structures to make way for a new, modern facility, while reconfiguring areas to improve access to the indoor market.

Key upgrades include a multi-use events space, new signage, improved trader parking, a taxi drop-off point, and a bike hub. There will also be upgraded public spaces, new retail units, public restrooms, and a taller canopy covering the market stalls.

Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for Resident Services, encouraged visitors to support local traders during the temporary relocation, emphasising the importance of enhancing traditional local centres.
