One of the country’s leading universities is entering an exciting new era as it launches Birmingham’s newest meeting venue with the help of fit out specialists Overbury.
Conference Aston, part of Aston University, opened a new meeting venue within one of Europe’s largest, freestanding brick buildings. The new centre features eight contemporary meeting suites with state of the art facilities accommodating up to 250 delegates. The space also offers a flexible 300m2 exhibition area, which can cater for an array of event formats. The total size of the fit out project was 1100m2 and cost £1.5million.
This project is the second in which Aston University and Overbury have worked together, the first being a £2million fit out of the library, which was completed in September.
Lucy Talbot, director of Conference Aston, said: “As transport links to Birmingham continue to improve, it was no surprise to see the second city named the top conferencing destination outside of London in the UK recently. Due to this increased demand for meeting space, we decided to further invest in our facilities – with this being the first phase of an overall £5.4m redevelopment project.
“We were pleased with the work that Overbury did on the library, so it made sense to work together again to ensure that this work set a high precedent that the rest of the redevelopment can follow.”
David Johnson, account manager at Overbury’s Birmingham office said: “Following our previous work with Aston University we were thrilled to be given the opportunity to develop the look and feel of the university’s new flagship space. The facilities are not just a boon for the university but also Birmingham as a city. Event organisers are constantly looking for new and refreshing venues to bring delegates and we have helped create just that at Conference Aston.”
Conference Aston boasts Birmingham city centre’s premier portfolio of award winning conference, hotel and event venues; purpose built to offer choice, flexibility, quality and expert support, without compromise.
