Warwick District Council has appointed Stepnell as the contractor for the first phase of restoration at Leamington Town Hall, following the completion of preparatory works. Stepnell, recognized for its work on similar heritage projects, including the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Costume Workshop in Stratford-upon-Avon, will lead the efforts to modernize and preserve the historic civic building.

The project aims to create a new Creative Hub within the Town Hall. Initial work will focus on remodelling the entrance and reception area, along with the installation of new toilet facilities and a passenger lift. The Stepnell team is expected to be on-site until early 2025.

Councillor Ella Billiald, Warwick District Council’s portfolio holder for arts and economy, emphasized the importance of blending tradition with modern design, stating, “We are confident that working in partnership with Stepnell, we can create a new future for Leamington’s Town Hall and a legacy that we can all be proud of.”

Adrian Barnes, director at Stepnell, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the team’s commitment to creating a modern and accessible space while respecting the building’s historical significance.
