Burton-based manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles (RRT) is making headlines with a series of significant developments. The company has not only renewed its sponsorship with Burton Albion FC for the 2024/25 season but has also secured a lucrative contract for a Ministry of Defence (MoD) housing redevelopment project.

Renewed Sponsorship with Burton Albion FC

Russell Roof Tiles has reaffirmed its commitment to local community engagement by renewing its sponsorship of Burton Albion FC for the 2024/25 season. This partnership marks the ninth consecutive year of support from the roofing manufacturer, which has also been sponsoring the East Stand at the Pirelli Stadium since 2018.

The League One team recently entered a new era under the ownership of the Swedish-based Nordic Football Group (NFG), which acquired the club in early June. Ben Robinson, who has owned the club for over 40 years, sold his majority stake but continues as the honorary chairman, while his daughter, Fleur Robinson, has been appointed CEO after her tenure at Wrexham FC.

As part of the renewed sponsorship, Russell Roof Tiles will continue as the rear shirt sponsor for the fifth consecutive season, featuring its logo on the home and away kits worn by Mark Robinson’s first-team squad throughout the Sky Bet League One campaign.

Andrew Hayward, Managing Director of Russell Roof Tiles, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “We would like to congratulate Burton Albion FC as they embark on an exciting new era under new ownership and look forward to working with the new owners. We have worked alongside the team for almost a decade, and our business takes great pride in our support of our local club, as well as the work of the Burton Albion Trust.”

“Russell Roof Tiles is headquartered in Burton as well as having a site in Scotland and is a firm believer in supporting its local community,” he added.

Ben Robinson also commented on the importance of such sponsorships: “Football is a powerful tool for making a difference in the community, and sponsors like Russell Roof Tiles know they are supporting all that we do, as well as the team that goes out onto the Pirelli Stadium pitch on a Saturday afternoon.”

“With the greater national and international exposure that will be generated by the EFL’s new TV deals, we are looking forward to an even more rewarding season for our sponsors and commercial partners as we begin an exciting new era at the Pirelli Stadium. I want to thank Andrew Hayward and his team at Russell Roof Tiles for their continued support, and we look forward to another successful year together.”

Securing the MoD Housing Redevelopment Contract

In addition to its community engagement, Russell Roof Tiles has won a significant contract to supply tiles for a £1 million Ministry of Defence (MoD) housing redevelopment in Fareham, East Hampshire. The project will upgrade 62 existing MoD homes, including completely retiling the roofs with Russell Roof Tiles’ Double Roman concrete roof tiles, installed by Hampshire-based Protec Roofing.

This project is the latest in a series of Ministry of Defence contracts that Russell Roof Tiles has supported, further solidifying its reputation in the industry.

Michael Palmer, Area Sales Manager at Russell Roof Tiles, stated, “We are very proud to be continuing to support the Ministry of Defence with its re-roofing programme. This is such a significant project, and we are happy to be delivering our market-leading and sustainable products and systems.”

“By utilizing its incredible expertise and knowledge of previously working with the Ministry of Defence on similar projects, the team will deliver an efficient and high level of service. We look forward to working on the development over the next 12 months,” he added.

Expansion and Future Plans

These developments come at a crucial time for Russell Roof Tiles, as the company is undergoing its most significant expansion since being acquired in 2011. The company is investing £18.5 million into its Nicolson Way site in Burton, which will see the addition of new manufacturing lines and a 1600-square-meter building featuring a state-of-the-art curing chamber, only the second of its kind in the UK.

The expansion is expected to create approximately 25-30 skilled and semi-skilled jobs in engineering and maintenance, further contributing to the local economy and community development.
