West Midlands BusniessNewss likes to feature many aspects of the business world and today we are going to cover one of the United Kingdom’s and the Midland’s most respected entrepreneurs. Sukhi Ghuman was born in the East Midlands, in the City of Leicester in 1977 and is from a British Asian family
Founding Octavian
In 2003, Ghuman identified a niche in the security industry and founded Octavian, a security firm that became the first to employ ex-Gurkhas. Under his leadership as Group Chairman and CEO, Octavian expanded its operations across the UK and internationally, offering a diverse range of services from manned guarding to high-tech security solutions. This led to the company expanding and becoming internationally recognised. It now operates globally and has been responsible for the security of some of the world’s most high-profile clientele.
It’s not just the security sector that Ghman has his hands in either. Like all good entrepreneurs, he has expanded his portfolio and diversified his business interests, forming companies such as Octavian IT Limited, Octavian Recruitment Limited, and Octavian Payment Solutions LLC, each addressing different market needs globally.
Outside Of Octavian
Beyond Octavian, Ghuman has been involved in numerous independent professional projects, from restructuring businesses to expanding them internationally. His leadership extended to roles such as interim CEO for Kanbar Properties and a judge for business competitions like “The Pitch Scotland.”
He is also a well-known philanthropist and his work with organisations like the Homeland Security Foundation of America, where he became the first non-US citizen to serve on the board has gained him great influence.
He has done many positive things for his social community as well including raising significant funds for cancer research and supporting local initiatives in Nottingham. Ghuman will be an inspiration for many in the midlands, especially those from Asian backgrounds and we here at West Midlands Business News will be following his journey closely.
