Specialist defence manufacturing company NMS UK has announced the opening of a new production facility at Tachbrook Park in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. The facility, set on a 7.9-acre site, will focus on manufacturing protected patrol vehicles and is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year. Over the next three years, this new venture is anticipated to create 150 jobs across various sectors, including engineering, factory management, training, simulation, and aftersales.
NMS UK has received support from Invest Coventry & Warwickshire throughout the process of selecting the site and will also benefit from partnerships with Warwickshire Skills Hub and Coventry Jobs Shop to assist with recruitment and upskilling efforts. The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC), the region’s investment promotion agency, has also been pivotal in securing this investment, working alongside the Department for Business and Trade to connect NMS UK with local suppliers, universities, and providing communications support to raise the company’s profile in the defence industry.
David Zevulun, UK country director at NMS UK, highlighted the region’s appeal, citing its world-class research and development assets, diverse supply chain, and access to funding as key factors in the company’s decision to base their new facility in the West Midlands. He emphasised the company’s ambition to be a significant player in the British defence industry by supporting the production of UK-made armoured vehicles.
Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, welcomed the investment, noting its importance in maintaining the region’s reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing and exporting. He also highlighted the opportunities the facility will bring to local residents, especially young people, through the creation of highly skilled jobs.
The new facility represents a major step in NMS UK’s growth, contributing to both the regional economy and the broader UK defence industry.
